3.1 Discussion. What Love Is This

Getting Started

Have you ever been in love, the kind of love that has you walking three feet off the ground, smiling all the time and saying nice things to everyone, especially those you love? What love is this?

Have you ever gone out of your way for someone you love? Paid the check at the restaurant when you didn’t really have the money, drove the last 100 miles home on that long road trip? Lost sleep over someone who needed your company? What love is this?

Have you ever hurt for someone, taken the blame for something that wasn’t your fault, been betrayed over a wrongdoing that could never be made right? What love is this?

Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:

· Discuss the concept of love.

· Share your experience with love.

Resources

· Bible

· Video: What Love Is This?

Background Information

Now, let’s go deeper into the concept of love, down to depths where few have been asked to go and where few would ever dare to enter. Let’s go to the cross. Yes, the cross where our Lord was crucified for and by those He loved—and with his dying breath uttered the greatest acclamation ever heard by mankind, “Father, forgive them! They know not what they are doing!”
