Lung Scan V/Q- Patient history: 62 year old female, with type II

Interesting case because was admitted on 22 Jan 19 for a stoke and on 01 Feb 19 had shortness of breath and had a VQ scan.

Patient history: 62 year old female, with type II diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, breast cancer no recent chemo and has asthma

Findings: Ventilation images demonstrate overall heterogeneous activity throughout the bilateral lungs. On perfusion images, there are multiple segmental and sub segmental mismatched defects throughout the right lung.

There is overall significantly decreased activity throughout the left lower lung which is also mismatched compared to ventilation images. Impression: High probability of pulmonary embolism with multiple segmental and subsegmental mismatched defects throughout the right lung. Decreased perfusion with preserved ventilation throughout the left lower lung with is mismatched compared to ventilation images concerning the possibility of more central pulmonary embolism.
